Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a public group and a private group?
In a private group, the discussions and member list are only visible to the group’s members. With a public group, discussions are public (no login required) and the member list is visible only to admins.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes. We offer a three month free trial of Topicbox with up to 20 users, equivalent to our Business plan.
Are there any limits on the trial?
The trial is equivalent to our Business plan for up to 20 active users.
What types of payment do you accept?
We currently accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
Do I need to sign a long-term contract?
No, you can cancel your account at any time and there will be no further payment required. Please note: we do not offer refunds for unused subscriptions, so please use your free trial to make sure Topicbox is right for you.
Is there a discount if I pay yearly?
Yes, accounts that prepay for their users get 12 months of service at the cost of 10 months – two months free!
Can I switch between monthly and yearly billing?
Yes, you can switch billing frequency at any time. The new billing rate will take effect on your next renewal date.
Can I move existing group mail/listserv lists from another provider to Topicbox?
Yes! Please contact Topicbox support and we will help you directly with bringing over existing groups to Topicbox.
What if my needs change later?
You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time; the new plan instantly comes into effect. A pro rata credit for the remaining time of your previous plan will be deducted from the cost of your new plan. You can also add or remove users at any time, with a pro rata credit for any unused subscription.
Can I use my own domain with Topicbox?
You can use your own domain for your Topicbox email addresses. Once you’ve started a trial, contact support to get set up.
What other limits are there?
All of our account limits – including those for sending and receiving mail – are based on your account plan, and are documented in our help.
Do I have to use the web interface to access Topicbox?
Users can read and respond to group messages through their preferred email program, or answer them on the web. You will need to visit Topicbox.com to confirm any admin, user and security settings for the organizations and groups you manage or join.
